The Crazy People Who Think They Are Going To Change The World Are Usually The Ones That Do

Aloha Family and Friends!
Week One...Down. It has been an emotional rollercoaster. But seriously the greatest thing of my short life. The energy here is amazing. I am so blessed to be among some of Heavenly Father's strongest. Something about the way everyone is comitted to our purpose as missionaries makes this place so amazing. It's different than school or anything else. Everyone wants to be here, we all want to invite others to come unto Christ. It is great.
My companion's name is Sis. Sotele. She is from West Valley, Utah. She is so amazing. I am so grateful to have her as a companion. We go together like two peas in a pod. I really hope we get to serve in the field together because that would be great! She is so humble and so willing to serve the Lord. She's great. It's super funny because everyone else in my district is Haole and I just laughed because of course they would put the only two polynesian sisters together. But its okay. I woulnd't have it any other way. I love it.
Being at the MTC is a great experience. The Spirit can be felt so strong here. It is amazing to go to every meeting, class, or devotional and to be spiritually uplifted every single time. I love it. There are so many missionaries here. It's so crowded. We are six to a room. As in I have the same amount of girls living with me in one bedroom as I did in a whole apartment type dorm with 3 rooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room space, and full kitchen. Haha. I must be crazy. But I think it's great. Half of my district is going to San Jose with me and the other half is going to Arcadia. Pretty cool.
But there are seriously so many people. Lines literally everywhere. For food. For laundry. For the showers. Definitely for the bathroom because girls go to the bathroom like every five minutes and now multiply that by two because everyone's companion has to go along/wait right outside. So yes, it is not uncommon to see a Women's restroom line consistently out the door. Haha. But really though lots of people.
Well, being here has built my testimony so much. Last night we had a devotional and Elder Robert C. Gay spoke. He asked us what power as missionaries do we have and he told us that "The power you have is to atonish this world." It is so true. As representatives of Christ we invite others to come unto Christ one by one just as Christ did in 3rd Nephi when he appeared to the Nephites and the Savior, my savior, is with us every step of the way. He is the one that does the gathering, I just get the blessing of being the vesesel He uses to help accomplish this purpose. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to serve the Lord.
The other day me and Sis. Sotele taught a TRC investigator. We had everything all planned out. We discussed how we'd take time to get to know her and then try to connect that to God as her loving Heavenly Father. We were going to try to jump right into the first lesson. We had a list of scirptures that went along with it. We were prepared. Then we got in there. As we talked and got to know her she talked a lot about faith. Then while Sis. Sotele was talking to her I had the immeadiate thought that "Faith is not have a perfect knowledge of things". Growing up that investigator knew a lot about her religion yet as she explained to us she did not have faith. So we shared with her Alma 32:21 and taught and invited her to pray. We asked her to pray to know that Heavenly Father was there and that He truly was her loving Heavely Father. It was such a humbling and blessed experience to hear her humble prayer. She told us she had never addressed Heavenly Father as Heavenly Father before and even though she thought it was a little weird at first she ended up thinking it was pretty cool.
This experience was such a testament to me that the Lord truly knows and loves each other His children. She may not be fully converted just yet but everyday I spend at the MTC I become more and more converted unto the Lord. I have such a strong testimony on the power of revelation. There is no way I could've thought of that scripture on my own. We were planning on sharing a completely different lesson with that investigator. It is so awesome to think that the Lord, this amazing perfect being is mindful of us. How beautiful to think that I have a Father in Heaven that loves me and loves all of you. I know that I cannot do this alone. I need the Lord to help me. But I know that as long as I remain worthy of His blessings, I will have nothing to worry about. He will be with me every step of the way.
Well, everyone sorry to say but I'm running out of time and I have to check on my laundry. Haha. Know that I love you all and I'm so excited to be here. Please write. I love hearing from you. Especially because I only have a limited time on here, I'd love to write to you all.
Also it's crazy, I just got here and I'm leaving next week. So I actually don't know when I'll be able to email again because my P-day is today I leave next week wednesday on my P-day crazy! I can't wait to get out into the field. I love you all.
Love,
Sis. Ellis-Lui-Kwan
